History and Culture
1. The Tunnel of Time
The subway that runs from Plaza de Mayo to Primera Junta was founded in 1913 which made it the first Latin American subway line. Everything from those years is still well preserved: The stations, old blinker lights, and the artisan wood wagons make the trip a journey through time.

2. Revolutionary Shortcut
Take the shortcut through the inside patio of the historic Cabildo to get to Diagonal Sur. Go early and sit down on one of the benches, breathe in deeply, then watch the satisfaction on other people faces that have just discovered this path.

3. Romp through the Museums
To take in some culture before heading back to the television set, it is recommended that you start your tour at MALBA, then to the Maman Fine Art Gallery, and complete your tour at the restaurant next to the Museo de Arte Decorativo. Once you have regained your energy, continue on to the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes to see the collection of Argentine art. Finally, cross the Palais de Glace and go to the Cultural Center of Recoleta to buy one of their art/design books.

4. The Search for Printed Treasure
Corrientes and the neighboring streets offer an inexhaustible quarry of printed publications. With patience and shrewdness, you can find treasures that include classic novels at a discount price, foreign magazines, comics, and that volume for which you have been looking to complete that antique encyclopedia set. It is worth taking an entire afternoon to browse through this treasure trove. If it ends up that you cannot find want what you want, visit the fairs in Plaza Italia or Centenario Park.

5. An Afternoon in the Colony
The Museo de Arte Hispanoamericano serves as a neoclassical palace surrounded by Spanish-inspired gardens. To take of full advantage of the experience, do not forget to take a book to enjoy the tranquility of this unique find.

6. Say a Prayer for Us
In front of the Galerias Pacifico, you'll find Santa Catalina which was the first female convent founded in Buenos Aires. It was inaugurated in 1745, and it has been restored hundreds of times to avoid becoming an eyesore smack dab in the center of the city. After reciting a few prayers for our sins, it is worthwhile having lunch under the trees in the main patio.

7. Image is Everything
On the verge of being a decade old, the PROA Foundation has become one of the city's meccas for contemporary art. During the past several years, they have displayed some of the most interesting photography exhibits. In the Manzana de las Luces, located between Peru, Alsina, Bolivar, and Morena streets, there is a great deal to visit. First, there is the St. Ignacio Church which was constructed by the Jesuits. Second, you will see the Virreynales de Renta House and the Hall of Representatives which was the place to be during the period of Independence. Finally, the National College of Buenos Aires is also in this neighborhood.

14. The Lungs of the City
Whether you choose to rollerblade, bike, jog, or walk, the parks in Palermo provide you the opportunity to exercise without forking over the cost of a gym membership. If you are one of those that like to run behind a ball, look for someone who will invite you to play in a pick up game. Regardless of what you choose to do in the park, it is an ideal way to leave stress behind without losing contact with the spirit of the city.

15. Music to Snack On
To bring yourself up to date with the latest news in jazz, world music, electronic, and classical music, go to Notorious. A sub or a ham and cheese sandwich is ideal while sitting in front of one of the personal computers and letting the songs do the rest.
